Kristine Olijnyk scored five goals and sophomore
Alyssa Johnston had two goals and three assists Saturday as visiting Nazareth defeated Elmira, 13-11, in the Golden Flyers' regular-season finale for women's lacrosse.
Nazareth finished the regular season with a 6-2 conference record and an overall mark of 11-4. Elmira finished 2-6 in Empire 8 games and 5-8 overall. Nazareth will be the second seed for next month's Empire 8 Conference Tournament.
Against the Soaring Eagles, the Golden Flyers avoided an upset by rallying from a 6-2 halftime deficit by scoring nine of the first 10 goals to open the second half.
Olijnyk scored four of her goals during that decisive stretch that ended with Nazareth on top11-7. Elmira kept the game close by getting a pair of goals from Meghan Pass to trim the lead to 11-9. Johnston and freshman
Amy McIntosh each scored for Nazareth i the last four minutes to preserve the victory.
Elmira had first-half leads of 3-0 and 5-1 and then got a goal with :02 left in the half to take a 5-2 advantage into the break. Olijnyk and Johnston each scored for Nazareth in the first 30 minutes.
Nazareth and Elmira then exchanged scores to open the second half, before the Golden Flyers reeled off eight goals in a row. Sophomore

Nazareth had a 37-28 advantage in shots, but Elmira had a 29-18 edge in ground balls. Nazareth freshman
Tara Prosak had 10 saves in 60 minutes.
The E8 Tournament is set for May 7-8 at Stevens. Nazareth, seeded second, will play Ithaca in one semifinal. Top-seeded Stevens will play fourth-seeded RIT in the other semi. The championship game is May 8,
