DANIELSVILLE, Pa. -- Nazareth's 2011 men's golf season cae to an conclusion Sunday as the Golden Flyers finished sixth in the Empire 8 Conference championship tournament played at Woodstone Country Club. The first two rounds were contested last fall at Yahnundasis Golf Club in New Hartford, N.Y.
Nazareth posted a four-round team score of 1363 to finish sixth. St. John Fisher captured the team title with a four-round stroke total of 1239. Moravian was a distant second at 1278.
Junior
Tyler Woodward was Nazareth's top finisher in a tie for 16th place after firing a final-round score of 78 to finish with a four-round score of 330. Senior
Ben Herrmann was close behind in a tie for 19th place with a total of 332. They were the only two Nazareth players to complete all four rounds.
Other weekend competitors were freshman
Ahren Henby with scores of 90 and 89; junior
Peter Savino with scores of 93 and 97; and sophomore
Zack Martin with scores of 99 and 97.
Fisher had the top two individual finishers in Tyler McArdell with four sub-80 rounds for a total of 306. That was five strokes better than teammate Chris Clapper and Scranton's Jamie Bresnahan.
