BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth closed out its regular-season schedule in men's volleyball Wednesday by sweeping D'Youville in three sets to extend its winning streak to 13 matches.
The Golden Flyers, ranked second nationally, improved to 22-3 overall and finished a perfect 9-0 in United Volleyball Conference matches. The Golden Flyers will be the top seed and host for the UVC Conference Tournament March 26-27. D'Youville will be competing in the tournament after completing its regular season at 9-11 overall and 5-4 in conference matches,
In defeating the Spartans for the second time this season, Nazareth pounded out 50 kills in the three sets and produced a .456 hitting percentage. Senior outside hitter
Hans Schroeder led the way with 14 kills against just one hitting error in 19 swings for a .684 percentage. Senior
Brian Bunch also had 14 kills and a match-best 11 digs.
Schroeder, with a team-best 203 kills, will soon join Tom Maving and Joe Petzoldt as the third Nazareth volleyball player to reach 1,000 career kills as Wednesday's match lifted his career total to 983.

EJ Wells-Spicer, the Division III leader in assists per game (11.40), added 41 more to boost his season total to 889.
Nazareth still has much more volleyball to play, In addition to hosting the eight-team UVC Tournament, Nazareth will travel to Stevens for what could be the final North East Collegiate Volleyball Association Tournament April 1-3.
Nazareth also has an automatic berth for the
Molten Division III Invitational Championship April 15-16 at the Kidera Gym.
