Billy Gimello each pounded out 13 kills Saturday as fifth-ranked Nazareth outlasted sixth-ranked Stevens in five sets in a United Volleyball Conference match played at D'Youville. Scores were 20-25, 26-24, 24-26, 25-19, 15-10.
Nazareth improved to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the newly formed UVC. Stevens is 6-2 and 0-1.
Gimello posted a .440 hitting percentage for the Golden Flyers with 13 kills against just two errors in 26 attempts. He also had six digs and four blocks. Bunch contributed seven digs and three blocks.
Nazareth's balanced offensive attack was supplemented by senior
Hans Schroeder and sophomore
Rob Kraft, who each had 12 and 11 kills respectively. Senior
Ellis Walsh had eight kills and seven blocks and senior
Will Siwy had six kills in eight attempts for a .625 percentage. Sophomore
EJ Wells-Spicer amassed 55 assists.
Nazareth plays again Sunday against Bard at D'Youville at 12 p.m. Nazareth's first home match is Wednesday against D'Youville at 7 p.m.
