ALFRED, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth scored the first eight points of the game Friday and never trailed in an 86-54 romp over Alfred in an Empire 8 Conference men's basketball game.

Jason Corletta and
Phil Scaffidi scored 22 and 21 points respectively as Nazareth improved to 14-10 overall and 7-8 in the Empire 8. Alfred is 9-16 overall and 3-12 in conference games.
Nazareth shot 50 percent from the field in the first half (20 for 40), including 5 for 13 from three-point range in building a commanding 46-30 lead. Scaffidi scored 15 of his points in the first 20 minutes as he made 6 of 8 shots from the field with two three-pointers.
After building the early lead, the Golden Flyers' extended their advantage to 11 points, 23-12, following a basket by freshman
Brad Ford (16 points) with 10:27 left in the half. The lead continued to grow as the Golden Flyers were comfortably ahead the rest of the way.

Kevin Broderick was able to empty his bench in the second half as every player was able to contribute at least one field goal, including freshman guard
Kyle Wojciechowski, who scored his first points of the season on a jumper with 1:18 left.
Corletta's 22 points came on 9 for 15 shooting with three three-pointers. He added four rebounds and three assists.
Nazareth closes out its schedule Saturday at home against Utica at 4 p.m.
