The Golden Flyers, ranked fourth nationally in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, are 9-3 after splitting their two matches Friday evening. Thiel is 2-9. Tenth-ranked Rivier stopped Nazareth's six-match win streak and are 12-4 overall.
Sophomore
EJ Wells-Spicer finished the match against the Raiders with a team-high 43 assists while sophomore
Dan Mowery accumulated a team-high 11 digs. Senior
Ellis Walsh and junior
Billy Gimello added seven kills and six kills, respectively.
Against Thiel, junior
Dan Miranda had seven kills in 10 attempts and sophomore setter
Connor Ecklund totaled 23 assists Friday as Nazareth swept visiting Thiel in three sets in the opening match of the Golden Flyer Invitational for men's volleyball. Scores were 25-15, 25-19, 25-17.
Nazareth produced a team hitting percentage of .319 to defeat the Tomcats for the second time this season. Gimello added five kills and two solo blocks and Walsh and freshman
Cole Hutter each had four kills. In addition to his 23 assists, Ecklund had three kills in four attempts and six digs.
Nazareth plays again Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m. The Golden Flyers host 15th-ranked New Paltz at noon and third-ranked UC-Santa Cruz at 4 p.m.
