HOBOKEN, N.J. -- Top-seeded Stevens scored both of its goals within a five-minute stretch in the second half Sunday as the Ducks claimed the Empire 8 Conference championship in women's soccer for the second year in a row with a 2-0 victory over Nazareth.

The Ducks improved to 14-3-3 overall and gained an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Nazareth dropped to 10-4-4 overall and holds an outside chance to gain an at-large berth when the NCAA Tournament bids are announced Monday.

Stevens outshot Nazareth 18-7 (including 12-2 in the second half), but was kept off the scoreboard until the 66th minute when Bridgette Barden scored her fifth goal of the season off an assist from Lindsay Stoll. Barden's shot caromed off the crossbar and landed over the goal line.

Stoll scored Stevens' second goal less than five minutes later as she accepted a pass from Paige Allen and dribbled in unconstested on Nazareth keeper Abbie Carey and delivered her third goal of the season.

For Nazareth, only Amanda Sudore, Anne Czelusniak and Katie Wyant managed to deliver shots on goal. Carey made four saves in goal, while Stevens' Kaitlin McClymont had three saves for her fourth shutout of the season.

The 62-team field for the NCAA Tournament will be announced at 1:30 p.m. Monday.
