PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth won a four-set non-conference women's volleyball at St. John Fisher Wednesday. The Golden Flyers improved to 22-10 overall as they won by scores of 25-20, 25-18, 27-29, 26-24.
Nazareth won for the 10th time in its last 11 matches and avenged a five-set loss to the Cardinals during the Empire 8 Conference Crossover last Saturday. Fisher is 18-11 overall. Nazareth is the second seed for the E8 Tournament Nov. 5-6 at Elmira. The Golden Flyers will play third-seeded Stevens Nov. 5 at 3:30 p.m. Top-seeded Elmira plays Fisher at 1 p.m. in the other match. The championship match is Nov. 6 at 1 p.m.
Against the Cardinals Wednesday, Nazareth relied on a balanced attack with junior
Amy Johnson and freshman
Chelsea Beecher each blasting out 11 kills. Freshman
Maria Allocco added 10 kills. Junior
Aubrey Cooke had 40 assists and 10 digs and junior libero
Brittany Crocetti had a career-best 28 digs to go with five service aces.
Nazareth competes again this weekend in the Upstate Regional Challenge hosted by the University of Rochester. Nazareth has matches against Lycoming, New York University, St. Lawrence and Brockport.
