ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Visiting William Smith scored the game's only goal in the 75th minute Wednesday as the unbeaten and second-ranked Herons emerged with a 1-0 women's soccer victory over Nazareth in a non-conference game.

The loss snapped a nine-game unbeaten streak (7-0-2) for the Golden Flyers, who dropped to 8-3-4 overall. The Golden Flyers also had their streak of consecutive shutouts snapped at 775 minutes. William Smith, which has allowed just one goal all season, improved to 14-0-1.

William Smith had a 20-4 advantage in shots, but couldn't score until just over 15 minutes remained in regulation. Freshman Dineo Mmutla delivered her sixth goal of the season as she converted a crossing pass from Kelsey Hill.

Nazareth's opportunities were few and far between. Senior Kerry Gannon had Nazareth's lone second-half shot in the 59th minute, but Herons' goalie Amanda Davis made the save to preserve her 11th shutout of the season. She finished with two saves overall.

Sophomore Abbie Carey played all 90 minutes for the Golden Flyers in goal and had seven saves.

Nazareth closes out its regular-season schedule Saturday at home against Skidmore at 3 p.m.
