PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Nazareth split a pair of women's volleyball matches Saturday during the second day of the Empire 8 Conference Crossover hosted by St. John Fisher. The Golden Flyers swept Hartwick in three sets (25-18, 25-20, 25-23), then lost to the host Cardinals in five sets (25-23, 25-23, 6-25, 17-25, 15-13).
The loss to Fisher snapped a nine-match winning streak for the Golden Flyers, who stand at 21-10 overall, including 5-2 in conference matches. The loss creates a three-way tie for second place in the E8 standings between Nazareth, Fisher and Stevens, all with 5-2 coonference records. Nazareth finishes second by virtue of the tiebreaker and will play Stevens in the E8 Tournament Nov. 5. Elmira, at 6-1 in conference matches, will be the top seed and host.

Maria Allocco had 10 kills and five blocks while freshman
Chelsea Beecher and junior
Amy Johnson each added eight kills. Junior
Aubrey Cooke totaled 38 assists and junior
Brittany Crocetti amassed 22 digs.
Against Hartwick, Beecher had eight kills without a hitting error in 16 attempts and Allocco had seven kills to pace the Golden Flyers' attack. Cooke had 28 assists and Crocetti had 13 digs.
Nazareth plays again Oct. 28-29 at the Upstate Regional Challenge hosted by the University of Rochester. The golden Flyers will play matches against Lycoming and New York University Friday, then St. Lawrence and Brockport Saturday.
