Nazareth takes Utica in 3

PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Nazareth cruised to an easy three-set women's volleyball victory over Utica Friday during the first day of the Empire 8 Conference Crossover Tournament at St. John Fisher. Nazareth won by scores of 25-14, 25-11, 25-11.

The Golden Flyers won their eighth straight match and now stand at 20-9 overall and 4-1 in E8 matches. The Golden Flyers play two more matches Saturday -- 3 p.m. vs. Hartwick and 5:30 p.m. vs. St. John Fisher. Both matches will can be viewed on web cast at: http://empire8.tv/

Against Utica, Nazareth relied on some high efficiency hitting to win in decisive fashion. Nazareth had 39 kills overall with just eight hitting errors in 70 attempts for a percentage of .443. Freshman Maria Allocco had a match-best 12 kills in 15 swings for a .625 percentage.

Junior Aubrey Ccooke amassed 32 assists and freshman Chelsea Beecher had four kills and four service aces.
