ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Visiting Geneseo built a commanding four-goal advantage midway through the second half Thursday and the Blue Knights went on to take a 5-1 field hockey win over Nazareth in a non-conference game.

The game was originally scheduled to be played at Geneseo, but was moved to Nazareth due to poor field conditions. The Blue Knights improved to 8-7 overall, while Nazareth dropped to 3-11.

Geneseo's Kayla DeAngelis scored three goals to boost her team-leading total to 13 and teammate Kerry Hosford added one goal and two assists. DeAngelis and Hosford teamed up for Geneseo's first goal at 6:40, then DeAngelis scored again off an assist from Katie Farley at 32:10 to make the score 2-0 at halftime.

DeAngelis added her third goal early in the second half with Hosford assisting, before Hosford delivered her third goal of the season with an assist from Jill Flanagan.

Nazareth finally got on the scoreboard at 63:25 as junior Tessa Knapp scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season as she blasted a shot through a maze of players to make the score 4-1. Geneseo answered exactly a minute later when Abby Weiss scored her first goal of the season.

Nazareth resumes its Empire 8 Conference schedule Saturday with its first-ever meeting at St. John Fisher at 12 p.m.
