ALFRED, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth secured its first Empire 8 women's soccer victory of the season Saturday as the Golden Flyers blanked Alfred at Merrill Field, 4-0.
Nazareth improved its overall record to 3-2-3, including 1-0-1 in the Empire 8. The Saxons dropped to 0-3 in conference play and 2-7 overall.
Senior
Erica Conte scored two goals for the Golden Flyers and
Christine Belding added one goal and one assist. Junior
Kassandra Prutsman delivered her first career goal early in the second half.
Conte scored in the 20th minute off an assist from Belding for the only goal Nazareth really needed. Prutsman scored unassisted in the second half to make it 2-0. Conte added her second goal of the game in the 77th minute off an assist from freshman
Elizabeth Howell. Just over four minutes later, Belding scored unassisted for the 4-0 final.
Nazareth enjoyed a decisive 29-2 advantage in shots and had 13 corner kicks. Sophomores
Abbie Carey and
Bethany Novak combined for the shutout in goal.
Nazareth is on the road again Tuesday at the University of Rochester for a non-conference game at 7 p.m.
