ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Senior
Julie Davis scored the game-winning goal for the second game in a row for Nazareth Tuesday as the Golden Flyers defeated Brockport in a non-conference field hockey match, 3-2.
The victory was the third in a row for the Golden Flyers, who improved to 3-4 overall. The victory also avenged an earlier defeat as Nazareth lost at Brockport, 2-0, on Sept. 11. Brockport had a three-game-winning streak snapped and dropped to 5-5 overall.
With the score tied 2-2, Davis tipped in a shot by Kailee O'Hara just inside the left post with 4:32 left in regulation. Davis also scored the go-ahead goal in Saturday's 2-1 win at Ithaca.
Nazareth led 2-0 after first-half goals by O'Hara, her team-leading fourth goal of the season, and senior
Caitlyn Angelidis. Sophomore
Lindsey Smith assisted on O'Hara's goal and junior
Nina Fargnoli had the assist on Angelidis' goal.
Brockport rallied with a goal by Jackie Massoni late in the first half and one by Emily Corpin in the second half to tie the score. Jessica Blind assisted on both scores. Nazareth had a chance to take a 3-1 lead in the second half after being awarded a penalty stroke, but Brockport goalie Kasey Schreiner saved O'Hara's attempt to keep the score at 2-1.
Nazareth had a 20-16 advantage in shots and 10-9 edge in penalty corners. Senior
Kelsey Evans had 10 saves for the Golden Flyers and Schreiner had 14 for Brockport.
Nazareth plays again Oct. 6 at Geneseo at 4 p.m.
