Ryan Foley scored the game's only goal in the 60th minute Saturday to lift visiting Nazareth to 1 -0 victory over Ithaca in men's soccer.
the game was the Empire 8 Conference opener for the Golden Flyers, who improved to 2-4-2 overall. Ithaca is 0-1 in conference play and 1-4-3 overall.
In a physical game that saw four yellow cards issued (one to Ithaca, three to Nazareth), the Golden Flyers prevailed thanks to Foley, who scored his second goal of the season following a corner kick by freshman
James Wheeler.
Wheeler's kick found the head of Foley, who redirected the ball past Ithaca keeper Justin Parlapiano.
Ithaca outshot Nazareth 13-8, but only three of the Bombers' shots needed to be saved by Nazareth goalie
Kyle Connolly, who had his third shutout of the season.
Nazareth is back in action Tuesday as the Golden Flyers visit 21st-ranked Hobart in a non-conference game at 4 p.m.
