HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth overcame a 35-8 shot differential Wednesday as the Golden Flyers recorded their first field hockey victory of the season with a 3-1 non-conference win over Houghton.
Nazareth is 1-4 overall and Houghton dropped to 3-4.
Sophomore Kailee O'Hara scored two goals for the Golden Flyers, who scored two unanswered goals in the second half to break away from a 1-1 tie.

Lindsey Smith broke the deadlock early in the second half with her second goal of the season that was assisted by senior
Emily Conway.
Less than three minutes later, the Golden Flyers added a valuable insurance goal as O'Hara delivered her second goal of the game off a pass from
Julie Davis.
O'Hara had given the Golden Flyers an early lead as she scored in the eighth minute off an assist from junior
Elise Maryanopolis. Houghton tied the score at 22:15 as Ashley Engle scored off an assist from Jennifer Huyett.
Houghton continued to pound away at the Nazareth goal with 16 shots in the first half and 19 in the second. The Highlanders also had 24 penalty corners to Nazareth's three. Senior
Kelsey Evans was equal to the challenge for the Golden Flyers in goal with 13 saves.
Nazareth plays again Saturday at Ithaca at 1 p.m.
