Hamilton, N.Y. -- Senior
Matt Morales paced the Golden Flyers to a fourth place finish in the men's 6-kilometer race at Hamilton with a 10th-place finish (20:12). In the women's race, sophomore
Kelsey Ryan placed 12th overall (15:47) in the women's 4-kilometer race to lead the Golden Flyers to fourth place in the women's meet.
Nazareth's men's team totaled 106 points. Hamilton finished with 35 points to win the meet, followed by Cortland with 42 points and Mansfield with 59 points. Mohawk Valley Community College recorded 137 points to finish the meet fifth.
In the women's meet, the Golden Flyers tallied 109 points. Cortland claimed the overall victory with a total of 24 points, followed by Mansfield with 48 points and Hamilton with 73 points. Mohawk Valley placed fifth with a total of 121 points.
Freshman
Matt Fedrizzi was the second Golden Flyer to cross the finish line in the men's race as he placed 25th overall (20:58). Fedrizzi was followed by junior
Tim Rutan in 32nd place (21:12), junior
Peter Fekete in 33rd place (21:15), and sophomore
Josh Strough in 46th place (21:56).
Freshmen
Jake Lafaver (22:35) and Zach Lafaver (23:03) rounded out Nazareth's top seven by placing 52nd and 55th, respectively. Just a few seconds later, freshman
Robbie DeWald (23:04) placed 56th and junior
Dan Polino (23:07) placed 57th.
Sophomore
Kelsey Mash was Nazareth's second finisher in the women's meet as she placed 17th overall in a time of 16:02. Mash was followed by freshman
Bethany Althaus (16:26) in 26th place, sophomore
Lauren Jamieson (16:42) in 33rd place, and freshman
Kathryn Piechowiak (16:55) in 39th place.
Junior
Michelle Gillette (16:58) crossed the finish line sixth for the Golden Flyers as she placed 40th overall while freshman
Lauren Heitzhaus (17:05) was Nazareth's seventh finisher in 41st place. Seniors
Samantha Hickok (17:19),
Lizzie McAndrew (17:24), and
Jessica Stanchus (17:33) rounded out the Golden Flyers' top 10 finishers in 43rd place, 45th place, and 46th place, respectively.
Nazareth is in action again September 17th when the Golden Flyers travel to Oneonta for the Pre-Regional meet.
