Flyers fall to Brockport, 2-0

Nazareth opens E8 schedule against Utica September 18th

BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Taryn Rossi and Crystal Mott each scored a first half goal to lead host Brockport to a 2-0 victory over Nazareth in a non-conference field hockey game. Senior Kelsey Evans was credited with a game-high seven saves for the Golden Flyers, including five in the second half.

Following the loss, Nazareth's record drops to 0-3 overall. The Golden Flyers open their conference schedule September 18th when they host Utica. The Golden Eagles improve to 2-3 overall with the victory.

Rossi put Brockport on the board when she converted a penalty corner opportunity about 15 minutes into the game. Ashley Elms was credited with the assist after she controlled the ball at the top of the arc and sent a pass to Rossi, who was able to redirect the ball into the goal for a 1-0 lead.

The Golden Eagles' second goal of the game, with about 10 minutes remaining in the first half, also followed a penalty corner. After the shot by Elms was blocked, Mott tapped in the rebound for her third goal of the season.


Nazareth increased its pressure on Brockport in the second half, but the Golden Eagles defense was up to the challenge. Kasey Schreiner finished with four saves in the final 35 minutes and six saves on the afternoon. Gina Stephan also recorded a defensive save to keep Nazareth off the scoreboard.

Freshman Alexis Root and senior Caitlyn Angelidis each finished the game with two shots on goal. Senior Julie Davis, junior Nina Fargnoli, and freshman Sarah Wazenkewitz recorded the Golden Flyers' other three shots on goal.
