PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth lost both ends of an Empire 8 Conference doubleheader at St. John Fisher Saturday, dropping the Golden Flyers to 12-18 overall and 4-8 in conference play. Nazareth hosts RIT Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Golden Flyers' final conference games.

In the first game Saturday, Nazareth got on the board in the second inning when sophomore Brittany Patenaude belted her fourth home run of the season. Fisher answered in the bottom half of the third inning as Kelly Jones hit a solo homer to tie the game at 1-1.

The game stayed tied until the bottom of the seventh inning when Fisher's Leanne Merchant led off the inning with a walk-off blast over the centerfield fence.

Merchant's homer spoiled another fine pitching effort by Kocher, who yielded just six hits while walking one and striking out 13.

Fisher banged out 15 hits in the second game against Nazareth starter Casey Mathers, who was charged with seven earned runs and six strikeouts.

Merchant hit another home run for the Cardinals, a two-run shot in the third inning as Fisher scored three times. Laura Rojek also homered for the Cardinals in the inning.

Nazareth's lone run came in the bottom of the seventh after freshman Kaitlin Graham reached on a one-out double. She advanced to third on a single by Patenaude and scored on an infield grounder by Mathers.
