ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Freshman
Ryan McCormick won Nazareth's lone match against visiting Stevens as the Ducks were victorious 8-1. McCormick defeated Shota Tasaki 6-2, 6-4 at first singles.
With the loss, the Golden Flyers drop to 6-2 in conference matches. Stevens improves to 7-1 in conference matches. Nazareth travels to Stevens for the Empire 8 Tournament, May 8-9, for its next matches. The Golden Flyers will be the third seed and will most likely face the Ducks in the tournament.
Freshmen
Jeremy Mancus and
Bret Beaver kept their respective matches close at fifth and sixth singles. Mancus ended up falling to Greg Klose 6-4, 6-4 at fifth singles while Beaver eventually fell to Carlo Pardo 7-5, 6-4 at sixth singles.
In other singles matches, the Ducks' Chris Rosensteel defeated junior
Adam Landry 6-2, 6-0, Arik Zeevy defeated senior
Steve Trobert 6-1, 6-1, and Jason Ringstad defeated freshman
Josh Mulligan 6-2, 6-1.
Stevens took command of the doubles matches as they allowed the Golden Flyers to win just three games. The team of Zeevy and Tasaki defeated McCormick and Mulligan at first doubles 8-1, while the team of Klose and Ringstad defeated Landry and Mancus 8-2. Rosensteel and Pardo finished with a 8-0 shutout of Trobert and Beaver at third doubles.
