Bedy makes first team all-conference

HUMMELS WHARF, Pa. -- Sophomore Dylan Bedy earned first-team Empire 8 Conference all-star honors Sunday after completing the four-round conference tournament in fourth place with a total score of 310.

Bedy shot 81 in Sunday's final round at Susquehanna Valley Country Club, but Nazareth dropped to fourth place in the team standings with a four-round score of 1,295. Susquehanna won the tournament with a total of 1,221. St. John Fisher was second (1,238) and Moravian (1,293) finished third. The first two rounds of the tournament were played last fall at Blue Heron Hills Country Club and the final two rounds were played this weekend.

Susquehanna's Mitch Mercer was a runaway winner for the individual title and gained E8 Player of the Year honors after shooting a 2-under-par 68 in Sunday's final round for a four-round total of 282 -- 19 strokes better than runner-up Brady Yates of St. John Fisher. 

Other Nazareth competitors included senior Josh Maxwell, who finished 15th with a final-round score of 86 for a 327 total; freshman Mike Bufalini, who finished tied for 17th place with a final-round score of 89 for a 329 total; and junior Ben Herrmann, who finished in 22nd place with a final-round score of 85 for a 334 total.

Ryan was Nazareth's top individual finisher at last Saturday's Harry Lang Invitational at Colgate. She placed fourth with a time of 17:47 for 4.2 kilometers.
Rikesh Kotak
Men's Soccer
Kotak converted one of three Nazareth penalty kicks following Saturday's 0-0 tie with Brockport that enabled Nazareth reach Sunday's final of the Doug May Invitational at RIT. He then scored Nazareth's only goal Sunday in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Tigers.
