ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Senior
Caitlyn Parmelee turned in a third-place finish in the 1,500-meter run for Nazareth Saturday as the Golden Flyers competed at the University of Rochester's Alumni invitational for men's and women's track and field.
Parmelee posted a time of 5:05.25 in the 1,500 to finish third. She was followed to the finish line by teammates
Lauren Jamieson, a freshman who finished sixth in 5:07.18, and
Kelsey Mash, a freshman who was ninth in 5:10.64. Parmelee also was Nazareth's top finisher in the 800-meter run, placing 10th in 2:34.87.
Among the other Nazareth competitors were junior
Samantha Hickok, who ran fourth in the 5,000-meter run (19:29.15) and junior
Sarah Wilcox, who finished fourth in the 10,000-meter run with a school-record time of 42:18.49.
Junior
Kristi Custer paced Nazareth in the field events with a third-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 10.87 meters (35 feet, 8 inches). Freshmen
Mindy Niebuhr and
Keaghlan Morrissey# finished third and fourth respectively in the high jump, each clearing 1.48 meters (4 feet, 10 1/4 inches).
In the men's meet,
Peter Fekete finished ninth in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 33:59.03. Freshman
Phil Schierer was 12th in the 400-meter dash (:53.01); freshman
John Longo 12th in the 1,500-meter run (4:15.80); and junior
Matt Morales 14th in the 5,000-meter run (16:07.19).
