ROCHESTER, N.Y. --
Corey McAdam, Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year for men's basketball, will be honored by the Rochester Press-Radio Club as local college Male Athlete of the Year.
McAdam will receive the award May 12 as part of the club's 61st annual Day of Champions Charity Dinner at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. The featured speaker will be New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, most valuable player of Super Bowl 44.
McAdam, of Fairport, N.Y., has won numerous accolades this season as he led the Golden Flyers to the Empire 8 Conference championship and a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament. He led the E8 in scoring at 21.6 points per game and closed his career as Nazareth's second all-time leading scorer with 1,865 points.
He also is a finalist for the Jostens Award, which recognizes the Division III Player of the Year. In addition, he was chosen to compete in the inaugural Senior all-star game at the Division III Final Four in Salem, Va. later this month.
McAdam is the fifth Nazareth athlete to be recognized by the Rochester Press-Radio Club. Others were lacrosse player Neal Powless in 1995; soccer standout Michelle Urbanski in 1998; volleyball All-American Christa Downey in 2000, 2001 and 2002; and national swimming champion Emily Lesher in 2006 and 2007.
