Nazareth to send 3 to swimming nationals

Official psych sheet
ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The waiting game is finally over for Nazareth swimmer Lauren McKinney and diver Lindsey Buzard. Both will join freshman Carissa Risucci to represent Nazareth at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving championships March 18-20 at the University of Minnesota.

Risucci was an automatic qualifier in the 100- and 200-yard breaststrokes and is seeded seventh (1:04.74) and third (2:18.32) respectively in those events. She also will swim in the 200 IM. McKinney, meanwhile, was a provisional qualifier in the 200 IM (2:07.70) and was finally accepted into that event as the 15th seed. She also will compete in the 100- and 200-yard butterflies. It marks the third year in a row that McKinney has qualified for the national meet.

Buzard also was a provisional qualifier after winning both diving events and being named Diver of the Meet at the upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association championship meet two weeks ago. She was accepted and will compete in both the 1- and 3-meter diving events. Buzard is the first Nazareth female diver to qualify for nationals since Kama Grattet won a national title in the 1-meter event in 1985.

"It's exciting," said Nazareth Coach Martie Staser. "I thought Lauren had a good shot, but I had no idea about Lindsey."
