LANGSDALE, Pa. -- Nazareth dropped its semifinal and consolation matches Saturday at the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association's Western Division Tournament hosted by Philadelphia Biblical. Losses to Medaille and D'Youville left the Golden Flyers with a 15-14 overall record and a glimmer of hope that they can still land a berth in next week's NECVA-ECAC Tournament at Cape Cod.
Philadelphia Biblical and Medaille gained automatic berths to the 16-team tournament that will be played April 9-11 at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center. Nazareth is hoping to make the field as an at-large selection when the seedings are announced April 5.
After outlasting Eastern Mennonite Friday in a grueling, five-set match, Nazareth lost to Medaille in a three-set semifinal match by scores of 30-27, 30-23, 30-26. Then in the consolation match for third place, Nazareth lost to D'Youville in four sets 30-25, 24-30, 30-23, 30-26.
Against Medaille
Chris Mendez had 10 kills and six digs and
Ellis Walsh had nine kills in 15 attempts for a .467 hitting percentage. Setter
EJ Wells-Spicer had 32 assists.
In the D'Youville match, Walsh had 15 kills with just two errors in 19 attempts for a .684 hitting percentage.
Hans Schroeder had 14 kills and
Dan Mowery had 13 digs. Wells-Spicer had 52 assists.
Nazareth played all three weekend matches without starting outside hitter

Kevin Kirchhoff, each recovering from thumb injuries.
