SALEM, Va. -- The 10 finalists for the prestigious Jostens Trophy were revealed today and Nazareth senior
Corey McAdam is part of the elite field. The award signifies Division III Player of the Year for men's and women's basketball.
Members of the Rotary Club of Salem will present the award March 18 at the Salem Civic Center in conjunction with the men's NCAA Division III Final Four March 19-20. The award takes into account three areas: basketball ability, academic prowess and community service. The trophy models the Rotary International motto of "Service Above Self" by recognizing those who fit the ideal of the well-rounded Division III student-athlete.
McAdam was honored last week as Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year and was MVP of last weekend's E8 Tournament after leading the Golden Flyers to the championship. He has amassed 1,844 career points and 782 assists as Nazareth prepares to compete this weekend in the NCAA Tournament at Plattsburgh. He leads the Golden Flyers in scoring at 21.7 points per game.
McAdam carries a grade-point average of 3.10 as a psychology major and has been at the forefront of several community service initiatives. An active member of of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, McAdam spearheaded a fund-raising effort in which sponsors donated money to the local Golisano Children's Hospital based on three-point shots made by the Nazareth men's and women's basketball teams in 2009-10.
