The Golden Flyers' men's tennis team began its spring break competition Sunday with an 8-1 win over Nebraska Wesleyan. Nazareth women's team also edged Nebraska Wesleyan 5-4.
Nazareth started the day with a strong doubles performance, winning two of three matches to set the tone.

Jeremy Mancus teamed up for a dominating 8-0 victory.

Bret Beaver helped keep up the pace with an 8-4 win.
At first doubles, freshmen
Ryan McCormick and
Josh Mulligan struggled to find a rhythm, suffering the only loss of the day at 8-4.
In singles action, all six starters were victorious. In the first set of his match, McCormick stormed back from being down 2-5 to win 7-5 after warming up. Then in the third, McCormick again staged an impressive rally down 6-9 to come back and take the super tiebreaker 13-11. Trobert displayed tremendous patience in his match after losing the first set, rallying 6-2 in the second, and then 10-5 in the third set super breaker. Other highlights included Landry's victory at second singles in a back-and-forth third set super breaker, a steady performance by Mulligan and Mancus, and a dominating showing by Beaver.
In the women's match, Nazareth won all three doubles matches to edge Nebraska Wesleyan. Senior Jackeline Martinez won at both first singles and first doubles. She won 6-3, 6-2 in singles and then teamed with senior Elizabeth Way for an 8-0 win in doubles.
Junior Sherrita Wilkins also won twice, taking her sixth singles match 6-2, 6-2 and them combining with Christine Cary for a 8-6 win at third doubles. Nazareth's other point came from Kelly Noble and Alex Vizgaitis# at second doubles, 8-4.
Both team play Scranton Monday at 8 a.m.
