Alex Bodensieck secured singles wins for Nazareth. The women's team also was scheduled to play Scranton, but the match was postponed due to travel delays.
In the men's match, Nazareth got off to a rough start in doubles as they dropped all three matches. McCormick and freshman Josh Mulligan again teamed up in the first doubles spot, junior Adam Landry and freshman Jeremy Mancus in the second spot and senior Steve Trobert and freshman Bret Beaver in the third position.
Singles action brought two exhilarating matches. Bodensieck stepped in at the sixth spot and dominated with a 6-0, 6-0 victory. At first singles, McCormick outlasted Scranton's Scott Melideo 6-3, 6-4. Mulligan also fought hard to overcome cramping in the second set, but suffered a tough loss in the third set super tiebreaker.
The men's team will look to overcome today's loss when they face Transylvania on clay at South Beach Racquet Club Tuesday at 12 p.m.
