Nazareth swept by Medaille, 3-0

Golden Flyers host Nazareth Tournament Feb. 12-13

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Junior Hans Schroeder had a team-high 11 kills for host Nazareth, but the Golden Flyers were unable to overcome Medaille's balanced attack in men's volleyball Tuesday. The Mavericks defeated Nazareth in three sets-- 30-28, 30-19, 30-28.

With the loss, the 15th-ranked Golden Flyers drop to 2-2 in NECVA contests and 2-5 overall. Fourteenth-ranked Medaille remains unbeaten in NECVA matches with a 4-0 record and improve to 8-2 overall.

In addition to the kills from Schroeder, sophomore Billy Gimello tallied eight kills, followed by junior Ellis Walsh with six kills. Junior Will Siwy added four kills while junior Chris Mendez and sophomore Dan Miranda finished with two kills apiece. Gimello had a match-high seven digs while senior Kevin Kirchhoff recorded a team-high 27 assists.

Ryan Metz and Ryan Murdie each had a match-high 14 kills for the Mavericks. Nick Johnson was the third Medaille player to finish in double-figures in kills as he had 10. Ryan Maxwell recorded a match-high 31 assists and Dan Jackson tallied a team-high five digs.

Nazareth is in action again Friday and Saturday as the Golden Flyers host the Nazareth Invitational. The Golden Flyers' first match is against New Paltz at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon.
