SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Senior diver Lindsey Buzard and freshman breaststroker Carissa Risucci returned to the winners' podium Saturday as they each recorded first-place finishes during the final day of competition at the Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association championships at Nottingham High School.

Buzard will likely compete in the NCAA Division III championship meet in Minnesota next month after finishing first in the 3-meter competition with an 11-dive score of 430.85. Buzard also won the 1-meter competition on Thursday.

Likewise, Risucci has automatically qualified for the national championship meet in two events after winning Saturday's 200 breaststroke. She lowered her association-record time to 2:18.32, more than five seconds faster than her closest pursuer. Senior Jeanne Falco also competed in that race and placed ninth in 2:29.52. Risucci finished first Friday in the 100 breaststroke.

Buzard and Risucci helped lead Nazareth to a third-place finish in the team standings with a three-day score of 909. Empire 8 Conference rivals Ithaca and Stevens finished first and second respectively with scores of 1403 and 1306.

Senior Lauren McKinney also swam well Saturday as she finished third in the 200 butterfly and provisionally qualified for nationals with a time of 2:08.91. McKinney also was part of the 400 free relay that finished fifth in 3:38.22. Sophomores Rachael Phipps, Rachel Hayes and Jaclyn Conklin also swam.

Phipps was fourth in the 100 freestyle in :53.40 and senior Courtney Pilc finished 10th in the 1,650 freestyle (18:36.71).

The NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships will be held March 17-20 at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Beloit College and College of Wooster are co-hosts.
