MORRISVILLE, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth scored a pair of early goals and another late in the game Wednesday in a 3-0 non-conference field hockey victory over Morrisville.
The victory completed Nazareth's regular-season schedule with a 7-9 record. The Golden Flyers travel to Stevens Saturday to play in the semifinals of the Empire 8 Conferencfe Tournament. Nazareth, seeded fourth, plays top-seeded Stevens at 12 p.m. Morrisville is 8-11 overall.
In Wednesday's game, Nazareth got goals from
Emily Conway and Kailee O'Hara before the game was seven minutes old to build an early lead.
Conway scored her second goal of the season at 4:45 of the first half with O'Hara picking up the assist. Just over two minutes later, O'Hara delivered her team-leading sixth goal of the season with
Lindsey Wagner assisting.
The score went unchanged until less than three minutes remained in the game and sophomore
Lindsey Smith scored her fourth goal of the season with an assist from
Elise Maryanopolis.
Nazareth limited Morrisville to just one shot in the second half as the Golden Flyers preserved the third shutout of the season for senior
Kelsey Evans, who made five saves.
