ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- After a tough first day in which they dropped two matches Saturday, Nazareth's women's volleyball team rebounded Sunday to win twice to salvage a 2-2 weekend at the Upstate Regional Challenge at the Kidera Gymnasium.
The Golden Flyers completed their regular-season schedule with an overall record of 18-19. Nazareth will be the second seed for Friday's Empire 8 Conference Championship Tournament at Ithaca. Nazareth plays Elmira in a semifinal match at 2:30 p.m. while Ithaca hosts RIT in the other match at 11:30 a.m. The championship match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
On Sunday Nazareth swept Rochester in three sets by scores of 25-22, 25-18, 25-21 and then went four sets before disposing of Brockport 25-19, 25-18, 27-29, 25-16.
Sophomore
Amy Johnson represented the Golden Flyers on the all-tournament team as she combined six kills with seven service aces against Rochester and added seven kills and two aces against Brockport.
Senior
Kristi Custer had a match-high 13 kills against Brockport to go with four aces and four digs. She had 10 kills and eight digs against Rochester. Sophomore
Ashlee Travis added eight kills without an error in each match and had 10 total blocks.
Sophomore setter
Brittany Crocetti had 21 assists against Rochester and 42 against Brockport. Senior
Megan Rogers added 15 digs and graduate student
Carra Vanderstyne had 14 against Brockport.
