Nazareth splits two at E8 Crossover

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Nazareth split a pair of women's volleyball matches Friday at the Empire 8 Conference Crossover hosted by Ithaca College. The Golden Flyers are now 4-2 in conference matches and 14-17 overall after outlasting RIT in five sets and falling to Stevens in three.

Nazareth handed RIT its first loss in conference play by scores of 25-18, 23-25, 25-27, 25-18, 15-8. Against Stevens, Nazareth lost 25-19, 25-11, 31-29.

Senior Kristi Custer had 19 kills and junior Ashlee Travis added 17 kills against RIT. Sophomore setter Brittany Crocetti amassed 48 assists and senior libero Megan Rogers had 17 digs.

In the Stevens match, graduate student #Carra Vanderstyne had 10 kills and 11 digs and Crocetti had 27 assists.

There is a three-way tie atop the E8 standings with Elmira, Ithaca and RIT each sporting 5-1 records. Nazareth and Stevens are next at 4-2. The top four teams advance to next month's Empire 8 Tournament at the site of the highest seed.

Nazareth plays two more matches Saturday -- 2:30 p.m. against Utica and 5 p.m. against Elmira.
