Nazareth tops Brockport in 4

Kristi Custer delivers a match-high 18 kills

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Senior Kristi Custer delivered a match-high 18 kills to go with nine digs Tuesday as host Nazareth defeated Brockport in four sets in a non-conference women's volleyball match. Scores were 25-22, 25-12, 22-25, 28-26.

Nazareth improved to 13-16 overall, while Brockport dropped to 7-20. It was Nazareth's second win of the season over the Golden Eagles.

Custer's 18 kills came in 40 attempts against just five hitting errors for a percentage of .325. Sophomore Aubrey Cooke added 10 kills and four aces while junior Ashlee Travis and grad student Carra Vanderstyne each contributed eight kills.

Nazareth had a strong night serving the ball with 17 aces, including seven for sophomore Amy Johnson. Sophomore setter Brittany Corcetti had 43 assists and senior libero Megan Rogers had 19 digs.

Nazareth paid tribute to its seniors -- Custer, Rogers and Vanderstyne -- before the match.

Kristi Schrantz led Brockport with 12 kills. Jenna Yates had 22 assists.

Nazareth competes again this weekend in the second round of the Empire 8 Cross-over at Ithaca. Nazareth plays RIT and Stevens Friday at 5:30 and 8 p.m. respectively and Utica and Elmira Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.
