Nazareth goes 1-3 at Salisbury Tournament

SALISBURY, Md. -- Returning from a 10-day layoff, Nazareth won once and lost three matches over the weekend at the Salisbury Invitational. Senior outside hitter Kristi Custer made the all-tournament team for the Golden Flyers, who stand at 12-16 overall.

Nazareth split two matches Saturday. The Golden Flyers lost in four sets to Cortland 18-25, 25-16, 25-13, 25-18 and then defeated Richard Stockton in three sets 25-21, 25-22, 25-21. Action resumed Sunday with Nazareth losing to Central (Iowa) in three sets 25-11, 25-22, 25-21 and to Salisbury 25-20, 25-14, 25-17.

Custer paced the Golden Flyers in the victory over Richard Stockton with a match-high 15 kills to go with nine digs. Sophomore Aubrey Cooke and graduate student Carra Vanderstyne each added 11 kills and sophomore Brittany Crocetti had 35 assists.

Crocetti had 21 assists in the Cortland match and senior Megan Rogers had 21 digs. Sunday's highlights included 13 digs for Rogers and 18 assists for Crocetti against Central and nine kills for Custer against Salisbury.

Nazareth returns to action Tuesday for a home match against Brockport at 7 p.m.
