ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Host University of Rochester won 13 of 16 events Saturday in men's swimming and diving as the Yellowjackets defeated Nazareth, 192-92. Freshman
Mike Bidwell won two races for the Golden Flyers. Nazareth won the women's meet, 170-129.
Bidwell won the 200 breaststroke in 2:24.51 (winning by .41 of a second) and the 400 IM (4:39.46). Freshman
Jacob Kline (Newark) was first in the 100 fly (:54.56) and second in the 100 backstroke (:56.16). Sophomore
Dan Walton finished second in the 200 fly (2:13.15) and senior
Rob Wortel was second in the 50 free (:22.49).
In the women's meet, senior
Lauren McKinney was a triple winner as Nazareth improved its dual-meet record to 4-0. Sophomore
Rachael Phipps and freshman
Carissa Risucci each won two events and swam on a winning relay.
McKinney won the 200 fly (2:15.75), the 100 fly (1:00.75), and the 400 IM (4:50.14). Phipps was first in the 200 free (2:00.99) and the 100 free (:54.63). Risucci won the 100 breaststroke (1:09.36) and the 200 breaststroke (2:29.66). They all swam on the 200 medley relay with sophomore Holly Gilligan. The relay was timed in 1:54.77.
Nazareth also got a first-place finish from freshman McKenna Murphy in the 500 free (5:25.20) and a pair of seconds from Lindsey Buzard off the diving board. She scored 189.55 on the 1-meter and 201.55 on the 3-meter. Nazareth also won the 400 free relay in 3:46.73 with the team of Murphy, Phipps, Rachel Hayes and Conklin.
Nazareth's next meet is Jan. 23 at Fredonia at 1 p.m.
