ROCHESTER, NY - Alfred took an early lead over Nazareth and never trailed as they went on to win 56-54 in Empire 8 action Friday night.  The loss drops Nazareth to 3-7 in the Empire 8, 9-9 overall as Alfred improves to 3-6, 9-9.

The Saxons went on a 8-0 run to open the game before Brittany Wilson put the Golden Flyers on the board 3:09 into the first.  Nazareth came within two points 8-6 but Alfred maintained its lead and led by as much as 14 points, 32-18 with 1:44 left in the first half.  Wilson scored a three-pointer at the buzzer to pull the Flyers within nine, 32-23.

Katie Kollar scored seven points off the bench to lead Nazareth in the first half.  The Golden Flyers shot just 30% from the field and 50% from the line while Alfred was 50% from the field and behind the arc.  The Golden Flyers were also just 3-of-12 from the three point line. 

Nazareth slowly chipped away at Alred's lead in the second half.  Mary Holland's three pointer with 8:09 remaining put the Golden Flyers within one point, 44-43.  The Saxons extended its lead again to seven points with 6:29 left.  Brittany Tallchief scored a three point play after being followed on her made layup with just :33 remaining to tie the game for the first time, 54-54.  Alfred's Lyndsay Murphy scored a layup of her own with just :06 left to put the Saxons back ahead 56-54.  The Golden Flyers called a timeout with just under :05 remaining but were not able to get off a clean shot before the buzzer.

Tallchief led Nazareth with 13 points including 11 in the second half.  She was 5-of-7 from the field and 3-for-3 from the line.  She also finished with seven rebounds.  Ashley Gallagher, Wilson, and Kelly Dunne all finished with seven points while Holland went 2-for-3 from behind the arc to finish with six points.  Dunne also finished with five steals.

Alfred was led by Alysha Dias and Murphy who each finished with 13 points.  The Saxons out-rebounded Nazareth 41-32.

ROCHESTER, NY -- #Kelly Dunne# scored all of her game-high 16 points in the second half Tuesday to lead visiting Nazareth to an Empire 8 Conference win over RIT in women's basketball.  Dunne's three pointer with 11:28 left in the game put the Golden Flyers ahead for good, 42-40, as they went on to win 56-45.
