HOBOKEN, N.J. -- Visiting Nazareth captured the first set against Stevens Saturday, but the Ducks rallied to take the next three sets to defeat the Golden Flyers in a battle of nationally ranked teams at the Stevens Invitational. The fourth-ranked Ducks won by scores of 22-30, 30-28, 30-26, 30-28 to improve to 3-0. Nazareth, ranked seventh, is 0-2.
The Golden Flyers were scheduled to play Newbury in a second match Saturday, but the match was suspended to Sunday due to a protest. Nazareth also will play Hunter Sunday at 11 a.m.
Against the Ducks, sophomore
Billy Gimello tallied a match-high 22 kills to go with 10 digs. Junior
Hans Schroeder added 10 kills and freshman
Robert Kraft had seven kills and six blocks. Senior setter
Kevin Kirchhoff had 48 assists.
