HOBOKEN, N.J. -- Nazareth's injury-plagued men's volleyball team dropped two more matches Sunday at the Stevens Invitational and the seventh-ranked Golden Flyers returned home with a startling 0-4 record.
Sophomore
Billy Gimello and junior
Hans Schroeder, both outside hitters, each sat out Sunday's match agtainst Hunter with ankle injuries. Gimello aggravated a pre-season injury, while Schroeder was injured in the Golden Flyers' three-set loss to Newbury in a match that took two days to complete. In addition, senior outside hitter
Brian Bunch suffered a shoulder injury in last Tuesday's match at Medaille and did not accompany the team to Stevens.
"We're in a tough spot right now," said Nazareth Coach
Cal Wickens. "Hopefully in another week or so we'll get these guys back."
Nazareth dropped a four-set match to Stevens Saturday, then fell behind against Newbury when the match was suspended due to a protest. Upon completion Sunday morning, Nazareth lost in three games 30-27, 30-28, 30-28. Nazareth then followed that up with a three-set loss to Hunter 31-29, 30-19, 32-30 to drop to 0-4 for the first time in its six-year history.

Will Siwy each had nine kills against Newbury, while junior
Ellis Walsh had seven. Senior setter
Kevin Kirchhoff had 29 assists and freshman defensive specialist
Dan Mowery had 14 digs.
Mowery also had 10 digs in the Hunter match and sophomore
Dan Miranda posted a team-best 10 kills. Freshmen
EJ Wells-Spicer and
Connor Ecklund combined for 31 assists.
Nazareth seeks its first victory of the season Wednesday at home against D'Youville at 7 p.m. in a NECVA Western Conference match.
