BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth scored three unanswered goals in the second half Wednesday and the Golden Flyers went on to secure their first men's soccer victory of the season with a 3-1 win over Buffalo State.
The Golden Flyers improved to 1-2 overall with the non-conference win. Buffalo State is 2-2.
After falling behind 1-0 in the first half, Nazareth scored three times in the first 15-plus minutes of the second half to take control. Senior Christopher Lofgren scored the tying goal less than three minutes into the second half as he redirected a pass from junior Rikesh Kotak.
The go-ahead goal came less than seven minutes later as sophomore
Chris Mitchell one-timed a cross from
Liam Connolly to make it 2-1. Sophomore
Andrew Alaimo netted an insurance goal in the 61st minute as he scored his second goal of the season off a long through pass from junior
Mark Van Thof.
Six of Nazareth's eight shots came in the second half. Buffalo State had 14 shots with senior goalie
Trey Barresi making six saves.
Nazareth returns to action Saturday at home for a non-conference game against Oswego at 1 p.m.
