Nazareth blanks MIT, 3-0

Golden Flyers visit Brandeis Sunday

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Three different players scored goals for visiting Nazareth Saturday as the Golden Flyers blanked MIT in a non-conference women's soccer match, 3-0.

The victory evened Nazareth's overall record at 1-1, while MIT dropped to  0-2. The Golden Flyers play again Sunday at Brandeis at 1 p.m. For Live Stats link, click here.

Freshman Chelsea Kuss started the scoring for the Golden Flyers in the eighth minute as she netted her first collegiate goal by converting a cross from junior Erica Conte.

Junior Rachel Piemonte made it 2-0 with an unassisted score in the 28th minute. She knocked in a rebound off an initial shot by Meghan Finn.

Nazareth's third goal came in the second half as Conte scored her first goal of the season with an assist from junior Meagan Rivera.

Each team had 13 shots while junior Hillary Simon and senior Polly Muehlenkamp combined for the shutout. Simon had two saves in the first half and Muehlenkamp had six in the second.
