Flanagan named Empire 8 Player of the Week
ROCHESTER, N.Y. --
Kelly Flanagan, a senior forward on the Nazareth field hockey team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week for the seven-day period that ended Sept. 27.
Flanagan, of Fairport, N.Y. and a graduate of Fairport High School, helped the Golden Flyers to pair of victories last week as the team improved to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the Empire 8. Flanagan had an assist in Nazareth's 2-1 home-field win over Houghton Sept. 22. She then scored both goals, including the game-winning goal in overtime, of Saturday's 2-1 conference win at Elmira.
Flanagan leads the Golden Flyers in scoring for 2009 with four goals and one assist. Her 38 career goals rank her second all-time.
Nazareth returns to action Tuesday for a non-conference game at Brockport at 4 p.m.
