UR downs Nazareth, 4-1

Golden Flyers open E8 schedule Friday at Utica

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Visiting University of Rochester scored three goals in the first 15 minutes of action Tuesday and the 20th-ranked Yellowjackets went on to defeat Nazareth in men's soccer, 4-1, at Golden Flyer Stadium.

The Yellowjackets remained unbeaten at 5-0-2 as they defeated the Golden Flyers for the ninth straight time. Nazareth dropped to 3-4 overall.

Senior Scott Cady (Littleton, CO) scored Rochester's first two goals. The first came in the fifth minute after he accepted a pass on the left side of the box from teammate J.J. Dennstedt and knocked a shot past Nazareth keeper Trey Barresi.

Just over four minutes later, Cady was fouled in the penalty area and scored on the resulting penalty kick for his second goal of the game and third of the season.

Nazareth got on the scoreboard less than two minutes later when sophomore Andrew Alaimo scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season as he deflected in a shot by Mohammed Ahamed. The Yellowjackets struck again less than five minutes later as sophomore Max Eberhardt scored off a rebound of a shot taken by Steve Welles.

The score remained 3-1 until the 66th minute when Dennstedt stole a pass from a Nazareth defender, dribbled in and scored his third goal of the season.

UR had a 23-10 advantage in shots and a 6-2 edge in corner kicks. Barresi made seven saves for Nazareth. Senior Michael Peacock had three saves for the Yellowjakcets and senior Brandon Campbell had one.
