CLINTON, N.Y. -- Nazareth came from behind with two goals in the second half and the visiting Golden Flyers edged Hamilton College 2-1 in a non-league men's soccer game played Saturday at Love Field.
Freshman
Alex Manchev made his first collegiate goal the game-winner in the 69th minute to propel Nazareth, which improved to 3-3 overall. Hamilton (1-2-1 overall) failed to clear the ball out of its end and Nazareth gained possession on the left side. Sophomore
Liam Connolly sent a pass ahead to Manchev, who had a defender on his back. Manchev dribbled into the box and deftly slid the ball past Hamilton keeper Eric Boole, who had rushed off his line to cut down Manchev's angle.
The Continentals grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute. Hamilton threw the ball in from the left side and deep in the Golden Flyers' end. Goalkeeper
Trey Barresi jumped high to intercept the throw and the ball went through his hands. The ball bounced right to Tom Goulder, who buried a shot into the open net for his first career goal.
Nazareth (3-3-0) tied the score just 2:33 into the second half after its second corner kick in less than 30 seconds. Senior #Christopher Löfgren# sent the ball into the goal mouth, where it was loose for a second before junior
Raymond Touchstone found it and knocked it past Boole.
Boole, who finished with three saves, had not allowed a goal in his first 247-plus minutes as a college keeper. Barresi made two stops. The Continentals held a 19-13 advantage in shots and took 10 corner kicks to four for the Golden Flyers.
