BROCKPORT, NY – Brockport and visiting Nazareth battled to a 1-1 tie Saturday afternoon in a women's soccer non-conference match-up. The game was a "Golden Challenge for a Pink Cure" which promoted breast cancer awareness and raised money for cancer research.  This will continue to be an annual event with proceeds going to the Comprehensive Breast Cancer Care Division of the Wilmont Cancer Center at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

With the tie, the Golden Flyers now hold a 1-2-1 record while The Golden Eagles are now 3-1-1.

After a scoreless first half, Nazareth got on the board quickly with Erica Conte (Caledonia, NY) scoring just :39 seconds in the second to give the Golden Flyers a 1-0 lead.  It was the first goal allowed by The Golden Eagles in three games and Conte's second of the season.  Chelsea Kuss (Warners, NY) was credited with the assist.

Brockport senior, Jessica VanAllen scored with 1:34 remaining in regulation to force the overtime.  Senior Natalie Gregorski blasted a shot from the top of the box that deflected off the crossbar to the foot of VanAllen to tie the game.

Brockport out-shot Nazareth 20-16 with each team getting two shots in overtime.  Hillary Simon (Homer, NY) had eight saves in goal for Nazareth while Erin Asquith made nine saves for the Golden Eagles.

Nazareth travels to Alfred on September 16 for its 7 p.m. Empire 8 Conference opener before returning home on September 19 to host Hamilton College at 1 p.m.
