CANTON, N.Y. -- A second-place finish with a school-record leap in the long jump by senior
Melissa Cutcliffe was among the highlights for Nazareth's track and field team Friday as the Golden Flyers were competing in the New York State Collegiate Track Conference championships at St. Lawrence University.
Cutcliffe had an ECAC-qualifying jump of 5.31 meters in the long jump, which translates to 17 feet, 5 1/4 inches. She broke her own school record of 5.21 meters, set last week at the Geneseo Invitational. Cutcliffe also set a school record in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash with a time of :12.67 seconds. She will compete in the finals Saturday.
Other Nazareth highlights included a second-place finish by senior
Lauren Glaser in her preliminary heat of the 400-meter dash with a time of :62.21. She also will compete in Saturday's finals. Nazareth also received a sixth-place finish from junior
Shannon Bradley in the 10,000-meter run (42:27.64) and an eighth-place finish from junior
Sarah Wilcox in the same event (43:52.39).
Nazareth also placed seventh in the 4 x 800-meter run with the quartet of
Evelyn DeSantis,
Caitlyn Parmelee,
Jessica Brown and Glaser with a time of 10:13.29.
On the men's side, freshman Ryan Ingram and junior
Matt Case each qualified for the Saturday's final in the 400-meter dash. Ingram turned in a time of :50.85, while Case was close behind at :50.86. Case also reached the final in the 200-meter dash with an ECAC qualifying time of :22.35 seconds.
Nazareth also gained points in the 4 x 800-meter run with the team of Ingram,
Nick Spera,
Matt Morales and
Robby Castor placing seventh in 8:23.06.
