ALLENTOWN, Pa. -- Nazareth opened its outdoor track and field season Saturday as the Golden Flyers competed at the Muhlenberg Invitational. No team scoring was kept, the Golden Flyers turned several top performances in less-than-ideal weather conditions.
For the women's team, senior
Lauren Glaser finished first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:24.90. Graduate student
Jessica Brown was sixth in the 1,500-meter run (5:01.20) and sophomore
Samantha Hickok finished third in the 5,000-meter run (19:53).
Freshman
Deb Morey was eighth in the 100-meter hurdles (:16.91); freshman
Evelyn DeSantis was eighth in the 400-meter run (1:03.70) and junior
Shannon Bradley was fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Nazareth also finished fifth in the 4 x 400-meter relay (4:29.40) with Brown,
Jessica Goodrich, DeSantis and Glaser and seventh in the 4 x 800-meter relay (11:17.50) with
Sarah Wilcox, Hickok,
Michelle Gillette and Bradley.
In the men's meet, junior
Matt Case excelled in the 400-meter dash by finishing third in :49.35. He was followed closely by freshman Ryan Ingram, who was fourth in :49.70. Case also ran sixth in the 200-meter dash (:23.20).
Senior
Robby Castor was eighth in the 800-meter run (2:00.90) and sophomore
Matt Morales was eighth in the 5,000-meter run (16:38.90). Freshman
Peter Fekete was ninth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Nazareth finished sixth in the 4 x 800-meter relay (8:57.38) with Castor, Case, Ingram and
Ryan Files.
