ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Three women's lacrosse players were selected as second-team Empire 8 Conference all-stars Thursday as the teams were announced following voting by the league's nine head coaches.

Sophomore attack Michelle Cook, senior midfielder Maggie Mullin and senior defender Hannah Brennan each were selected as second-team all-stars. Mullin also was Nazareth's representative as E8 Sportswoman of the Year. In addition, senior defender Mary Kate Scardillo received honorable mention.

League regular-season champion Stevens Institute dominated the selections with three players on both the first and second teams, including junior Alyssa Pigott, who was chosen Player of the Year. RIT also had three first-team selections, including Goalkeeper of the Year Kelsey Evans. Celine Cunningham of Stevens was selected Coach of the Year and Elmira's Lindsay Mitchell was named Rookie of the Year.

Cook, of Waterloo, N.Y. and a graduate of Waterloo High School, leads the Golden Flyers in scoring heading into this weekend's Empire 8 Conference Tournament at Stevens. She has 61 points on 41 goals and 20 assists.

Mullin, of Rochester, N.Y. and a graduate of Irondequoit High School, is a second-team selection for the second year in a row. She has started all 16 games this season and has contributed four goals and one assist. Mullin also leads the Golden Flyers in ground balls (35), draw controls (41) and caused turnovers (15).

Brennan, of Penn Yan, N.Y. and a graduate of Penn Yan Academy, has now earned E8 recognition for four straight years, including second-team honors three times. She was able to overcome off-season knee surgery to appear in 13 games as a defender and has 21 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers.

Scardillo, of Slingerlands, N.Y. and a graduate of Academy of the Holy Names, has started all 16 games as a defender and is second on the team with 28 ground balls.
