ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Host Nazareth used huge advantages in shots and face-offs to win its regular-season finale in men's lacrosse Tuesday as the Golden Flyers downed Keuka in a non-conference game, 20-11.
Nazareth boosted its overall record to 9-6 with its third win in a row. Keuka had a four-game winning streak snapped and fell to 7-7 overall. Nazareth plays again Friday in the opening round of the Empire 8 Conference Tournament at Ithaca at 4 p.m.
Nazareth outshot Keuka 63-29 and had 38 shots in the first half in building an 11-4 lead. Nazareth also won 29 of 35 face-offs overall with senior
Chris Law securing 20 of 23 draws and contributing three assists.
Freshman #C.J. Estes# led Nazareth's offense with three goals -- all in the first quarter as Nazareth took a 4-1 advantage. Nazareth added seven more scores in the second quarter, including two goals each from sophomore midfielder
Scott Castle and long-stick midfielder
Kyle Brown.
In addition the Castle and Brown, five others contributed two goals each: sophomore
Joe Jacobs-Ferderbar and juniors
Mike Cummings, Erinn O'Hara,
Kurt Detwiler and
Jay Willmes, who netted this first two goals of the season.
Adam Farrell and Gino Marcello each scored twice for Keuka and goalie Brett Leonard made 18 saves for the Storm
