GENESEO, N.Y. -- A first-place finish by senior
Melissa Cutcliffe in the long jump Saturday highlighted a strong day for Nazareth's track and field teams at the Geneseo Invitational.
Cutcliffe broke her own school record with a leap of 5.21 meters, which translates to 17 feet, 1 inch. Other strong performances were turned in by sophomore
Kristi Custer, who finished third in the triple jump (10.74 meters / 35 feet, 2 3/4 inches); graduate student
Jessica Brown, who finished fourth in the 800-meter run (2:23.50); and senior
Lauren Glaser, who was third in the 400-meter dash (1:00.85) and fifth in the 200-meter dash (:27.03).
Other competitors included freshman
Deb Morey, who was eighth in the 100-meter hurdles (:16.94) and 10th in the long jump (4.67 meters); junior
Jill Egmond, who was eighth in the pole vault (2.60 meters); and junior
Caitlyn Parmelee, who was ninth in the 1,500-meter run (5:14.69).
In the men's meet, senior
Robby Castor narrowly missed a personal best with a second-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.63. He won the Empire 8 title a week ago with a time of 1:55.59.
